Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS)

Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) is an initiative of national importance which offers real time bill payment service to customers/ non customers across geographic and demographic lines. BBPS a tiered platform wherein our Bank is participating as Customer Bharat Bill Payment Operating Units (Customer BBPOU).

The bill payment options are available through multiple channels. At present, bank is offering the service through Baroda Connect, Baroda M-Connect plus, Baroda M-CLIP, Multifunction Kiosks (MFK) and Baroda e-Gateway. Bharat Bill Payment System is a simple, secure and easy to use bill payment platform which offers interoperable and accessible bill payment services to customers with instant confirmation of receipt of payment.

Difference between existing Bill Payment options and BBPS:

Rural areas do not have access to third party bill payment services

Option for agent outlets and bank branches are also being examined.

Charges for bill payment services are not standardized

Standardized charges for banks, non-banks, agents, customers etc.

No standard TAT and mechanism for complaint management & resolution

BBPS has laid down standardised complaints management system to handle customer issues.

Banks are required to connect to multiple aggregators and billers. Thus we have Multiple Settlements and Reconcillation  with different billers

Standard commercial arrangement across the industry. Single Settlement & Reconcillation with Billers.

Eligibility (Who can use it?):

  • Available for both, Bank’s Customers as well as Non-Customers.
  • For Bank’s Customer, bill payment through Baroda Connect, Baroda M-Connect plus, Baroda M-CLIP, Multifunction Kiosk and Baroda e-gateway (Debit & Credit cards- Master & Visa) options are available.
  • For Non-Customers, bill payment is available through Baroda e-gateway (Debit & Credit Cards- Master & VISA) and Baroda M-CLIP.

Existing customers and billers would be migrated to BBPS in a phased manner to ensure minimum / no inconvenience to customers.
